Gordon was a stalwart of Langleybury Cricket Club and had six different
spells as captain of the 1st XI with the first starting in 1960 when he was
only 16 years old. He was an accomplished batsman scoring over 10,000 runs for
Langleybury and was arguably the most talented batsman not to represent his
He was also a professional footballer from 1962-1977, playing over 400 professional matches as a defender/midfielder for Luton, Gillingham, Charlton, Leyton Orient, Northampton and Brentford. He scored a total 54 goals in this time.
He passed away two days before Langleybury’s 2018 President’s Day which went ahead in his honour when a large number of his family and friends celebrated his life in true Langleybury style.
The funeral is at Langleybury church 10.30 on the 7th of September then afterwards at the cricket club. A true leader and great man will be sadly missed.
